We Also Install Outdoor Furnaces

Of all the ways you can heat your home, an outdoor furnace is an eco-friendly and energy-efficient solution for homeowners wanting to save on expenses. Wood is cheaper than oil or natural gas – and it’s a renewable energy source too. So what’s holding you back?

We get it – installing an outdoor furnace on your own sounds overwhelming and you’re worried that hiring a professional company to do the installation will lead to a chaotic construction project. That’s understandable. But Ozark Stove and Chimney is a leading furnace installer for residents in Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. Trust us to install your system and help you cut back on those pesky utility bills.

How Long Does an Outdoor Furnace Installation Take?

Installing an outdoor furnace shouldn’t be a huge undertaking. A professional installer – like us – will usually take a day or less to finish the job. The timeline could change depending on the size and complexity of your furnace, and more time may need to be added to account for ductwork, electrical, or gas line modifications to properly support the new equipment. Before we move forward, we’ll lay out the expected timeframe for you so you know what to expect.

You can save time by making sure your chosen location is completely cleared before we arrive. There can’t be anything flammable within six feet of the furnace. Get rid of any weeds, leaves, vegetation, and brush.

In addition, ensure appropriate siting. Plan to place outdoor wood boilers at least 300 to 500 feet from the nearest building that is not on the same property as the unit. Use chimneys that are a minimum of 15 feet high, or preferably higher than roofs of nearby buildings, to enable dispersion of the smoke.

On the day of installation…

What should you expect when we arrive to do your outdoor furnace installation?

  • Our installer will discuss the details of the equipment with you, to make sure you’re getting the correct furnace and all of the needed accessories.
  • We’ll double-check the pad where the outdoor furnace will be placed to make sure the area is large enough to accommodate the unit. We’ll also make sure the clearances are correct.
  • We’ll dig a trench below the frost line from the furnace to the house. The trench will prevent heat loss or freezing of the pipe.
  • Connect one end of the PEX pipe to the furnace, and the heat exchanger to the water heater. Use another run of pipe and a pump to fasten the other end of the PEX pipe to the water heater.
  • Finally, we’ll put the circuit breaker into the breaker box, then install and connect the thermostat.

And afterward? Depending on where you live, you might have to schedule an inspection with your town’s municipal offices. They may need to confirm that the unit is installed correctly and is in line with local building codes. You might also need to have your outdoor furnace inspected by your homeowner’s insurance company. Insurance policies can vary, so it’s important to check yours before using your new unit.
