Hire Ozark Stove and Chimney for Central Boiler Outdoor Furnace Installations

There is more than one way to heat your home.

You may have a traditional setup in which you rely on an indoor furnace or boiler powered by fuel, such as natural gas or oil, to keep your home cozy during the cold months… You may have a heat pump that pulls double duty by providing air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter… You could use a combination of a heat pump, wood stove, or fireplace to get your house warmed up…

…and unless you’ve built your home from the ground up, you’re likely using whatever heat source came with the property when you purchased it. But homeowners nowadays have more options to heat their homes – and with a focus on improved efficiency too.

What Is a Central Boiler Outdoor Furnace?

A Central Boiler outdoor furnace is a wood-burning heating system. The unit works by burning wood to heat water. The heated water is then circulated through insulated underground pipes to the residential or commercial properties being heated.

Unlike other furnaces, Central Boiler products are set up outside of the home, and one of the biggest draws is that they require less than 60 percent of wood compared to other methods of wood heating – and can work with any existing heating system.

The Central Boiler Titanium HDX line features four furnaces: the Classic Edge 360, the Classic Edge 560, the Classic Edge 760, and the Classic Edge 960. Other models include the Maxim, the Forge, and the Pellet Burner.

How Does a Central Boiler Outdoor Furnace Save Me Money?

We’ve all been there before… You get your monthly heating bill in the mail or online, and you’re shocked to see that the amount due is higher – sometimes significantly higher – than the previous month. You used the same amount of heat, maybe even less, so it makes no sense. By the time you get through the service fees, processing fees, tariff surcharges, and adjustments, you find yourself ready to pack up the family and bolt to a state where it’s summer year-round.

A Central Boiler outdoor furnace would allow you to break away from the confines of those fee-happy energy companies. How so?

  • Wood is very inexpensive compared to other fuel sources.
  • If you use scrap wood, or source and cut your own wood, you can eliminate heating bills altogether.
  • The Central Boiler unit is equipped to provide heat to multiple buildings, so you can heat your house, garage, workshop, shed, greenhouse, and barn all with one unit.

Now, we know the initial cost of a Central Boiler outdoor furnace can seem hefty, getting into the thousands right off the bat. We urge you to consider these units as a long-term investment toward your future that can actually save you more money when you look at things long-term. In fact, according to Central Boiler, a homeowner or business can save anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 over a 10-year span with one of their furnaces compared to a standard heating system.

Are Central Boiler Outdoor Furnaces Really Eco-Friendly?

A lot of companies claim that their products are eco-friendly when in reality, they’re not. So, we understand why you may be skeptical. If you are a green, eco-conscious homeowner or have concerns about how energy use impacts our environment, you can rest easy. We’ve designed a product that is safe to use.

Wood heat is nature’s choice. Central Boiler outdoor furnaces work by using wood or biomass, which are both renewable energy sources. Since they have a lower carbon footprint compared to fossil fuels, burning wood or biomass is considered carbon-neutral since the carbon dioxide released during combustion is offset by the carbon absorbed by growing trees or crops.

To sum up… By choosing a Central Boiler unit, you contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting environmental sustainability.

Do I Need a Permit for My Central Boiler Outdoor Furnace?

Codes and regulations can vary by state and city. Ozark Stove and Chimney works closely with homeowners, the Arkansas Boiler Inspection Division, and the Missouri Division of Fire Safety to ensure that any and all applications are filled out accurately and timely, and that inspections are scheduled if needed.

After we install your Central Boiler outdoor furnace, you can rest assured that we have complied with state regulations and your property will be up to code. Call or book online with us now to get started.

How Much Space Do I Need for My Boiler?

In order for us to safely install a Central Boiler outdoor furnace, we do recommend specific clearance distances from combustibles based on information provided by the manufacturer. The first thing you should always do is consult your homeowner’s insurance policy. Insurance companies have different rules and guidelines that are separate from the city and state. We’ll use this information in conjunction with zoning laws in your area to help you decide the best location for your unit.

It is recommended that the following clearances from combustibles be maintained for the furnace installation:

  • 44″ (112 cm) from the back
  • 12″ (30.5 cm) from the sides
  • 48″ (122 cm) from the front
  • 18″ (46 cm) from the chimney inspection cover

We should also note that your foundation must be non-combustible. For fire safety, keep all combustible materials at least six feet away from the outdoor furnace, especially around the door area. Debris of wood chips and other combustibles in the area may be easily ignited if hot coal is spilled out of the firebox.

How Do I Prepare for Installation?

So you’ve decided to move forward with purchasing a Central Boiler outdoor furnace and have hired Ozark Stove and Chimney to install it. How do you get everything prepped for installation day? Well, once you’ve squared away any zoning issues, have secured necessary permits, and have selected the perfect spot for your unit, we do have some recommendations on how to get your space ready to ensure an easy install:

  • Familiarize yourself with your new equipment: Central Boiler has downloadable instruction manuals on its website. Head over and read up about your new furnace.
  • Clear out any debris from the install area: Clean up anything flammable within 6 feet of where the furnace will be located. This includes leaves, hay, brush, and vegetation – if there’s even a slight chance it can catch fire, it has to go.
  • Consider the wind when choosing your location: You don’t want your furnace located in an area prone to high winds and you should also think about the direction that smoke will travel.
  • Lock in your fuel supply: What will you use for fuel supply? Whatever you decide – seasoned firewood or biomass pellets – make sure to have it in stock so that you’re ready to go when the cold weather hits.
  • Get in touch with our crew: If you have any questions or concerns leading up to the installation, please reach out to us. We’re here to help you.

Is there anything I need to do on the day of installation?

The day has arrived. One of our technicians is on their way to install your new Central Boiler outdoor furnace. Exciting times, indeed. You’ve cleared out debris, all of the equipment is on hand, and you have a full stock of fuel at the ready. All of the prep work is done, everything should be in place, and you can relax now… Right?

Honestly… yes! You should be good to go. Here’s what you can expect on our end:

  • A customer service representative will confirm the technician’s appointment time with you beforehand.
  • Once the technician has arrived on site, they will go over the installation plan with you. (This is a great chance for you to ask any last-minute questions that popped into your head or address concerns before we move forward.)
  • During the installation, you’re free to stay and observe – but you aren’t required to. Our technicians are skilled experts and you can trust us for a smooth installation process.
  • Once the installation is complete, we’ll test it out to make sure it’s working as it’s supposed to. We will also give you a demo of how to use the furnace.

…and that’s it! Your Central Boiler outdoor furnace is now ready to take on the cold weather and keep you and your family snug all winter long.

How Should I Maintain My Central Boiler Outdoor Furnace After Installation?

Central Boiler outdoor furnaces are known for their durability. The typical lifespan of a properly maintained and cared-for furnace can be many years. Featuring an innovative and sleek design, Central Boiler outdoor furnaces are made with stainless steel that has been reinforced with titanium. Your unit is built to withstand the highest temperatures, and is virtually resistant to corrosion and rust.

Which means, after it is installed, you only need to keep up with a simple maintenance routine to keep your Central Boiler outdoor furnace operating in peak form. We have a few easy pointers:

  • Clean ash and debris out of the firebox after use.
  • Inspect and clean the heat exchanger.
  • Make sure any moving parts are properly lubricated.
  • Monitor water levels in the system to prevent damage.
